Burning Bush Coffee was started in January 2016 at St. Tikhon's Monastery. We are a small-batch artisan coffee roastery with a focus on roasting "specialty grade" coffee beans from around the world. Specialty grade coffees are coffee beans that have a quality rating of 80 or above. These are considered to be the highest quality coffees available. Burning Bush works with two specialty coffee importers (Balzac Brothers & Company and Crop to Cup Coffee Importers) to ensure not only quality of the product, but also its traceability.

Our approach to coffee roasting is to highlight the unique natural characteristics of each origin. This means we do not typically roast beans "dark", since in dark roasting the roast tends to dominate the flavor profile of the final cup. This is why our beans are typically roasted to a light or medium level, minimizing the "roast" and highlighting the bean. In fact, we don't mention the roast degree of our beans in our descriptions, but focus on the flavor profile instead.

We hope you enjoy our fresh roasted coffee. If you would like more information about our process or would like to come by for a visit, please call our location at St. Tikhon's Bookstore at 570-937-4390.
